Deering Bay Yacht and Country Club

Miami offers plenty of opportunities for those who seek to have their names in the gossip magazines and their photos on page six by the paparazzi. If, however, you’re comfortable in your own skin and desire a less ostentatious–but no less pampered–lifestyle, then Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club should be on your radar.

Located in Coral Gables, on the shores of Biscayne Bay, DBYCC is the only private country club with a deep water marina and a championship golf course between the Florida Keys and Palm Beach County.

Only 284 residences are on the gated and guarded grounds, and they consist of large condominiums in medium (14 stories) and mid (6 stories) rises; townhomes, complete with two car private garages; and 24 ultra-luxurious single family estate homes.

Residents include captains of industry; physicians, attorneys and; high-level C-suite individuals and international executives. Many use the nearby Miami Executive Airport and the major Miami International Airport, 20 and 30 minutes away respectively, for both private and commercial flights.

For many, Deering Bay is a second home. And asking the residents what they like most elicits a variety of responses.

For some, it’s the Arnold Palmer designed championship golf course. Arnie himself selected Deering Bay as one his top 16 favorite golf courses. Because the Club maintains a limited membership, tee times are hardly ever necessary. A fully stocked pro shop, teaching pros, private bag storage, men’s and women’s locker rooms, a practice putting green, driving range and pitching island (an actual island, in the middle of the Bay) round out the golf facilities.

For others, it’s the Club and the par excellence dining and social scene. “This is like being on one of those smaller, ultra-luxurious cruise ships” says one member, “where the entire staff knows what you drink and how you like your prime rib or fish cooked.”

The Club offers complimentary continental breakfast every morning and complimentary hot hors d’oeuvres every afternoon/evening. The bar scene is lively, and especially so on ladies nights and happy hours. There are more social events and parties than you can possibly attend. Member of the Club fully appreciate the wide array. A Full and active children’s and family program is enormously popular.

Spectacular tennis facilities and a tennis pro shop, a gym with private trainers, and a Club pool with poolside food and beverage service are some of the other attractions that get high marks from residents.

All of the residences are sold, but there are limited resales. If you would like to explore the idea of living here or being a member of the Club, contact the membership department at Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club and mention Affluent Magazine. Arrangements can be made for you to play the course and have lunch or dinner.
