New Bath Collection by THG® Paris Blends the best of Classic and Opulent French Style

Recently THG® Paris, the leading French atelier for the bath whose collaborations with prestigious brands include Lalique, Baccarat and Christofle, announced its latest collection, Montaigne – a collaboration with renowned French interior designer and decorator Stéphanie Coutas.

Finding beauty in nature through her signature use of Grand Antique d’ Aubert marble, which is considered the most precious French marble, Coutas marries this traditional material with her unerring eye for the codes of luxury ‘‘à la française’’ cherished by both herself and THG Paris. This new collection joins two other product lines launched this year by THG Paris: Les Ondes created by interior design team Gilles & Boissier, and System, designed in collaboration with sculptural artist Arik Levy.

Montaigne’s design embodies a French sophistication that is enhanced by Coutas’ choice of material. The prestigious marble, revered for its natural black and white coloring, is native only to southwest France and has a rich historical past, decorating exquisite structures such as St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, the Palace of Versailles and the tomb of Emperor Napoleon.

Montaigne Collection

“The Montaigne Collection stems from this idea of transformation, this is one of our specificities: we like working with raw materials, transforming them and thus magnifying nature,” said Coutas. “Hence this idea of a marble tap, a rather raw element, which has been shaped into something luxurious, inherent to a refined universe. The Montaigne Collection aims to showcase the French identity of a French material enhanced by French artisans, which can fit into a very contemporary setting.”

Montaigne, designed by Stéphanie Coutas, featured here with a rare Grand Antique d’Aubert marble from France’s southwest region.

Growing up in Hong Kong, the interior designer and decorator has retained an intuitive appreciation for the mixing of cultures and “art de vivre” refinement with no show of ostentation. Coutas’ neoclassical and contemporary designs can be found in a number of luxurious residential projects and hospitality spaces in France, Europe and the Middle East. She has also partnered with a number of luxury brands; creating exquisite carpeting with Tai Ping, furniture with B&B Italia and lighting with Baccarat.

“Making us nostalgic for quintessential eras in French history, Stéphanie Coutas revisits artful designs from the past which she honors in a most noble way,” said Pedro Uranga, North American director for THG Paris. “We are humbled to have her signature designs featured as a tribute to the transformation of nature from raw to refined.”

The Montaigne collection blends the best of classic and opulent French style. Its elegant feel is rooted in the nobility of the Grand Antique d’ Aubert marble, which is further complemented by Coutas’ sophisticated design. Montaigne sheds light on a traditional French marble enhanced by contemporary French artisans. The collection is available with or without lever handles, and additionally in a gray or white alternate marble. Like all THG Paris products, the collection is offered with cross or lever handles and in various configurations for basins, matching bathtub and shower systems and a range of matching accessories. THG Paris offers a variety of 40 finishes to complement each design.

The new collection is on display now in the THG Paris design center in the Decoration & Design Building in New York.
